Frequently Asked Questions

Feline Pine™ Non-Clumping Litter

What is Feline Pine Non-Clumping Cat Litter made of & how does it work?

Feline Pine Non-Clumping Cat Litter is made from 100% Pine. Sawdust byproduct from lumber mills is collected and compressed into tiny pellets. These pellets act like tiny sponges that absorb urine and break apart into sawdust. Scoop the solid waste daily, and gently shake the box so the good pellets float to the top and the sawdust drops to the bottom. Leave the sawdust in the box as it will still work to absorb moisture and odor. When the box is about 90% sawdust it is time to dispose of it and start with new litter.

How do I transition my cat to use Feline Pine Non-Clumping Cat Litter?

To transition your cat to use Feline Pine Non-Clumping Cat Litter:

Phase 1: Pour one inch of Feline Pine Non-Clumping Litter into a clean litter box. Next, pour one to two inches of your old litter brand on top. Don't mix! Your cat will do this naturally as she uses her litter.

Phase 2: Next time you change the litter box, use the same amount of Feline Pine, but less of your old litter brand. Repeat for another three to four litter changes, lessening the amount of your old litter each time.

Phase 3: Make it official! This time around, use exclusively Feline Pine. Your cat should be acclimated by now, but some cats can need a little more time. So don't give up too quickly!

Why are my pellets different colors?

Since Feline Pine is a natural product, and because every geographical terrain is different, where we acquire our raw material can affect the coloration of the final product. Other factors can include natural floods, fires, droughts, mineral presence in soil, and other occurrences that may affect trees. Because of these natural occurrences and the fact that we do not add any harsh chemicals to our litter, there may be a variety of "shades." A common range can be anywhere between gray to a soft yellow.

Feline Pine Cat Litter is made from completely dehydrated pine fibers, allowing it to absorb liquid like thousands of tiny sponges. Which means your cat's litter box will stay fresh and dry, making cleanup easy.

Are new trees cut down to make Feline Pine Litters?

We believe in sustainability. So no new trees are cut down in the production of our litter. Instead, we use kiln-dried shavings reclaimed from lumber production.
