Where we stand and why

When Ken Simard, president and founder of Feline Pine, started the company in 1992, he never dreamed that it would grow to become the best-selling brand of natural cat litter in America. But he knew he had found a healthy solution for cats and cat litter when, inspired by a friend in the lumber industry, he tested various substrates and found Southern Yellow Pine to be the best at absorbing moisture and neutralizing odors. And he'd be helping the environment too, as this cat litter is made from kiln-dried shavings reclaimed from lumber production. After patenting the idea, he began selling the product locally one carload at a time. The demand for a healthy cat litter alternative grew rapidly. Eighteen years later, his vision for using all-natural products and creating healthy solutions for our feline friends was realized.

Feline Pine's mission is simple:

1. Make products that are safer and healthier for animals, utilizing pine and all-natural ingredients.
2. Respect all living things, especially animals and pets because they rely on us.
3. Embrace a corporate duty to be a steward of the environment and our precious natural resources.
4. Focus on product quality and customer satisfaction. In order to maintain high product quality, we built our own manufacturing plant in 2003.

While much larger today, we still maintain these small company roots, our founding beliefs and a continuing commitment to the health of you and your cat.
