100% Untreated?

I am wondering if Feline Pine is totally untreated?  I read it is dust free.  We are running low on pellets for our in-door composter and if I can use my cat’s FP pellets, they now have a dual purpose for me.  I have contacted local lumber yards and home improvement stores and none of them sell pellets.  I am thinking the FP and my compost pellets are the same?  Unfortunately, I keep my pellets in a large tub and have long since tossed the bag (and as I type, realized I didn’t clip the points last time!  Arrgh…)  Thanks!

Hi Jeepgirl,

Feline Pine Pellets are 100% untreated, so they should work fine with your indoor composter.  From what I have been able to research on indoor composters, it is basically the same as an outdoor composter, which we recommend people use with our product.  Again, it is 100% untreated, so it should not be a problem at all.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

When composting with used feline pine, do you use it as a carbon or a nitrogen? (Do you need to add more greens/nitrogen material to it, or more leaves/brown/carbonaceous material?) Or is it a pretty balanced mix?

I would say that it is more of a neutral, but I am not 100% positive.  I tried to research into pine wood, but our product has everything removed through our production process, so it is not the same as using wood that you would find in a forest.  I hope I was able to help.

Hi there. The feline pine would be carbon. That is why the ‘used’ feline pine is so great to compost. The wood is the carbon and the urine is the nitrogen. Old time composters call urine ‘compost activator.’
