I have 2 cats. Female 12 yrs old (has only had clumping clay litter) and a Kitten Male 4 months old. I have been mixing in the feline pine clumping with the older cats litter to get her used to it and all has been fine however the odor is not good. Not a pine smell but dirty litter smell. We scoop 2x/day but I don’t know if mixing the clay and feline pine clumping is making that smell. I also have another litter box for the kitten that is all feline pine clumping.
Ultimatly I would like to use the pellets but I don’t know if my older cat will like that move. Should I use the pellets in the kitten’s box and clumping in the older cats box? Do cats get deterred with the pellets?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, I am new to cat litter products and Feline Pine’s good reviews draw my attention. I’ve seen some videos on Youtube and learn that the little pellet absorb urine perfectly. But I wonder how can the pellet deal with poops? Can it also absorb the poop’s smell? Thanks!

Hi. I’ve been reading through the forums but I just wanted to be sure that I understood correctly that FP original is flushable? Is it safe for septic tanks?

Up until now I have been using Natural Harmony flushable cat litter. I love it because it’s makes it simple for the kids to help take car of the furballs and there’s no huge bag of heavy nasty clay to haul to the dumpster. Recently however, there was a mistake made and we didn’t buy new litter when we usually do so we were totally out and my husband didn’t get paid for another week. A neighbor came to my aid with some clay litter. We have 3 kitties so the whole house stank within a day no matter how careful I was to keep it scooped out so that just reaffirmed my decision to not buy clay litter ever again. It was also a pain explaining to the three yo why she couldn’t flush it down the toilet as she was used to doing. After a week of the clay litter, I was able to make it to the store to buy my regular litter and I was aghast to discover that they were out of stock. No way was I going to buy clay litter so the only other option was FP original.

I’m in love! I grew up in a logging town so I’m used to (and love) the smell of the pine. It made our bathroom smell great. I just changed the litter today after a week of use although it’s still sitting in a bag waiting to go to the garbage. We’re in an apartment and I don’t have a compost pile. :( I have had 3 kitties using it daily. I have been scooping the poop out, shaking off all excess dust and then flushing them and I was stirring up the dust so the pee wouldn’t clump in one spot and it would have a chance to air out and dry. My husband has a very sensitive nose (he complains of the smell from the cats before I notice anything) and he loves it too! He didn’t start complaining until several days had passed, and it was a day I hadn’t had a chance to take care of it properly. This costs more than the NH litter I was using (2x as much actually) and we’re on a limited budget because my husband is a student. However, if the litter is flushable, and it lasts as long as it seems to, it would actually be a better investment. I’m also happy because our picky one will pee on the floor if she’s not happy and that hasn’t happened once since we’ve had it, even though it was the second abrupt change of litter in as many weeks.

What’s the prognosis? Is it flushable? Even if it’s not, what does everyone think of how long it lasts? Especially for multiple kitties? Thanks for all your help!

I just switches to Feline Pine last monday (a week ago today) all 7 of my cats started sneezing outrageously three days ago, sometimes they will sneeze 5 to 10 times in a row, Our oldest cat yesterday got really really sick( drooling really bad, panting kinda like she was gasping for air, her heartbeat was fast, she was out of it and not moving so good, and she had a fever) we took her to the vet they did a test for leukemia - it came back negative, they did an x-ray and the only thing they found was that she had to use the bathroom- they didnt give us a diagnosis, but the vet asked if she could of gotten in the cleaning supplies or anything all of the cleaning supplies are put away they have access what so ever, all meds are put up also. they sent my cat home with antibiotics and a coating for her mouth due to the drooling. after we got home i was talking to my mother and she asked me if we changed cleaning supplies which we havent but i told her about switching to feline pine, she typed in google : can cats have an allergic reaction to feline pine, most of the symptoms on the first page we found are what my oldest, as soon as i found that out i put the feline pine in the garbage changed the litter box’s/ cleaned them with soap dried them and went out and got (Tidy Cat litter) that we were using before, that we have used for years, my 2nd to youngest kitten started showing the same symptoms this morning, Both the cats are really sick, they have a loss of appetite, i went today and got them moist food , all of them loved it like normal, but the oldest wanted nothing to do with it so i gave it to her with my hands and she ate a little. I am so scared for my cats, the other 5 are starting to get worse it seems, starting to sneeze more, and being really lazy which is not normal for them. i cleaned the room where the three cat box’s are mopped and everything, i dont know what else to do….

Okay, so I tried to transition my cat to Feline Pine. He peed all over/sprayed all over the house, AND then even peed on me while watching TV. He is a Jerk!!! I mean I love him, but he can be so awful.

I adopted this cat from a friend who had to move—and was told he does not like other animals. So the only other time he has been bad like this is when we’ve had my boyfriend’s family dog here.

Anyways so obviously he hates the litter, which is a bummer b/c I really wanted it to work. He was not even so hot about a layer of his old stuff on top. Arrgh. Now I have to track down where he has peed….and I’ve given him his old stuff back.

Any recommendations? He’s 10 years old and in decent health.

Hi all,

I am really confused. I started my Mocha on Feline Pine original from the day we adopted her (3 mo. ago) and she had no problem at all using her box. This past week I have discovered poo under the dining room chairs and pee by on the floor by the dining room doors and also in the bathroom where her box is on the floor. Her box has fresh litter and when she was pooping in the box I scooped it every morning before I left for work. Don’t know what is going on but any ideas will be greatly appreciated!
