Hi all: I have 4 cats—one who is 14. the rest frisky 5 yr olds…Problem: after @ 6 weeks on Feline Pine, one or more cats is peeing/occasional pooping outside box..One or more cats, especially the eldest, has done this in the past when anxious—esp. when new kitties came in.  I have 4 boxes.;

Possible causes of ignoring box: A. I have discontinued layer of clay litter on top in all 4 boxes.
                                B. I scoop every day (sometimes 2x) but there IS a layer of sawdust on the bottom that is kinda thick. Cats might object to this????

What do you veterans of Feline Pine think? Do I have to clean out that sawdust every 1-2 days? It does not smell… Should I go back to layer of clay on top? They seemed OK w/that but I hate the clay, of course. Could I substitute FelinePine Clumping, or is that too confusing for them?...I’m discouraged, of course….margaret

This will be a question that will no doubt be asked of a vet very soon. But my 14 year old cat has started grinding his teeth. He does this at no specific time. It could be before he eats, after he leaves the litter box or when he wakes up from one of his many naps. He also compulsively licks our couch or loveseat to the point that the fabric has now changed. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should ask the vet when I take him in?

Hi! I have an 11 year old cat named Daisy. I have had her since 2000. Well, recently, I resuced an abandoned kitten and decided to keep it after bottle feeding it for 2 weeks (it was abandoned before it was fully weaned). I named her Angeliqa.
One big thing I am wondering is how long does it take before my older cat accepts the new kitten? I’ve had the klitten for almost a week, and though Daisy doesn’t hiss at her anymore, she still refuses to sleep on my bed when the kitten is up there. I’m also wondering how to get Daisy to stop eating Angeliqa’s cat food and vice versa? Daisy is eating senior cat food for weight control, and Angeliqa is eating kitten food. I don’t want them eating each others food and getting sick! I tried setting the dishes away from each other, but this hasn’t worked.

Hello everyone.

This is a very touchy subject for most cat people, but, without giving my thoughts, what do you all think?? You all have cats or know people that have cats and I would like a wide range of answers. In a week or so I´ll post my thoughts unless there´s a lot coming in.

Thanks.

Another one of Herman’s favorite games is throwing things off tables. In the morning, I will wake to find everything on my nightstand on the floor. He throws pens off my desk. He throws cups, books, medicine bottles . . . basically anything that he can push off. It’s like when toddlers start throwing things on the ground. He just knocks something down, looks at it, and then looks for something else to knock down. You can also play the game with him by picking up the object and putting it back. He just throws it down again.

I am an adult female with a lot of allergies! Cat’s being one of them, I would not let that stand in the way of adding a kitten to my family. So with my theory that I am not allergic to tuxedo cats i adopted one and as soon as he was old enough started bathing him. He is shampooed and cleaned once a week and a lot of pet owners think I am doing something wrong. I discussed the matter with my vet who said there was absolutely no harm in it so I was wondering if I am the only weirdo out there or if other people bathe their cats as well. Please let me know what you think, please only positive comments. Also if you know if there is any information on short hair tuxedo cats being better for people with allergies.

Thank you!!!!!!!

Hello,

I have a cat, a bit over two years old. We’ve been feeding him Evanger’s Pheasant & Whitefish dry formula. However, we have to go to a special store to get this. It’s terribly inconvenient. Not to mention, our vet has recently told us our precious Mr. Kitty, is overweight, and in danger of developing diabetes. Despite the fact that he is only fed the recommended daily amount. Plus, a treat or two here and there.

Ideally, I’d like to switch him to a new brand of cat food, that I can pick up at the Petco right around the corner. I would like for it to be both natural, and something that will promote weight loss. My Vet will only recommend Science Diet brand cat food, which isn’t natural and it has a lot of ingredients that isn’t good for Mr. Kitty to digest.

I looked at a few select brands that Petco has in their holistic section. Mostly the Blue Buffalo Weight Control Chicken and Brown Rice recipe. however, I don’t know anyone who has fed these brands to their cats and I’m nervous about experimenting.
